Should I have my wet or dry carpet shampoo?

I just bought a house that has a little dog smell it and I want to get rid the smell and get my carpets as clean as possible. What are the pros and cons of wet vs. dry shampoo?

I have a carpet washer using hot water and did a great job. Maybe not a professional is the first time and then be yourself later. Bissell is an additive you can put in carpet cleaning for pet stains and odors that works wonders. Usually have 2 dogs and really do the trick.
