What kind of lithium ion battery pack would I need for a Kodak ZD8612 IS?

I just bought the camera for my niece who is 17. But even with rechargeable batteries she cannot take many photos before they die. She wants to go the zoo and take several photos so I told her I’d buy her a Lithium Ion battery pack to go with it, but I found many choices and wanted to know what the best pick would be.

You will notice that the Z8612 does not use Li-ion batteries.

In the future, your niece will want to be sure she buys a camera that uses them, but for now, have her charge all her NiMH batteries the night before you head for the zoo and also carry a hand full of AA alkaline batteries as back up.

One of the things that can cause early battery failure is poor energy management.

The LCD uses a lot of power so turning off the camera at the end of each shooting cycle is critical. Showing off the images to friends using the LCD can use energy needed to operate the camera. Flash is also a heavy user of the batteries power.

The AA lithium batteries are NOT rechargeable.
