Would it be beneficial to run 1×3 strip of skin on drywall panels before hanging for better insulation?
My house has been built in the early '80s (brick exterior) and interior wall panels. my plan is to hang quarter inch drywall on wood siding, but to help improve isolation, I thought to run in the 1×3 stud exterior walls and drywall half inch give me a small air pocket. I am sure that the walls of isolation they probably have installed some extent and I think I'm simply looking for a way to improve the R-value. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
would a slight increase in the value of R, but also would not recommend facts. The risk of cracks in the plaster would be much bigger by installing more horizontal 1×3 difficult to complete if you are not a professional drywalling. if you want better insulation cut holes in the cavity of the pin in the upper wall with a large hole saw on a show abandonment and cellulose insulation in some drywall then right over the holes
