Koi Pond: Dispelling Myths About Concrete

What some developers and Internet providers say professional pond installations using concrete and armor, plus mortar to hold the rocks?

True the past but not anymore. Regular mortar is porous, allowing water to pass through, dissolving and collecting the cement residue. This was a major concern mine for years. After completion of a waterfall, I have to run the cascade of two or three weeks, closing days every 4 or 5, and acid cleaning white alkali residue in the rocks that had accumulated. Then when we finished, we would have to clean the acid and rinse the pond.

Twelve years ago, I discovered a secret formula that would not make the porous mortar mix and water resistant. It also makes regular mortar three times higher. It is produced by adding a 45 # bag of thinset (used to apply ceramic tile to a shower wall) with two sacks of cement Type S. Once cured, it becomes so dense, it is completely waterproof and will not leach any alkali after drying (3 to 4 days). In addition, the mixture is so strong in its operating capacity that once cured, a hammer is needed to remove the rock. In most cases, the rock breaks free before reaching the secret formula for mortar.

Not only resistant water, but links well with all types and textures of the rocks. This creates an impenetrable barrier that is useful when building condemned rock in the waterfall. The main feature of my special formula is that it allows much more creativity. You can increase the water level above the limits of the concrete roof no leaks through the mortar joints, as in the case of a mixture of regular type mortar.

This special mix is not sold in stores, and I never will, because it gives me the distance formula for free! This discovery has revolutionized the efficiency of mortar mix and the binding capacity, waterproof, and prevent leaching alkali.

Dramatic Evidence

4000 gallons pool has been transformed into concrete koi pond with two large waterfalls, held my mortar new 8 'x 12' island. The rocks surrounding the island, were also arrested by the new formula. When completed the project, all areas have received quick wash and slightly acidic, and the pond was full and dechlorinator was added. The next day, a value of $ 3,000 of my own staff have koi transferred to the concrete Koi Pond. All swam calmly around the island, inspecting every nook and cranny. None of them experienced any effort and remained in its temporary headquarters for three months without incident. If this statement is not spectacular enough to convert the skeptics, nothing.

So what is the bottom line?

Pond liners can not be guaranteed without leakage, for a myriad of reasons. Steel bars and concrete pools, if constructed properly, will remain leak free for decades if not generations. You be the judge. You're the one investing your hard-earned money and time on it.

Be wise as an owl and as sharp as many objects that can pierce the shell line.
