Removed vjoint boards from wall. have torn the toplayer of the plasterboard off. Help?

Its not really a hole thats been left. The glue from the boards seemed to tear off the layer of paint already there and the top of the plaster board leaving an uneven surface for painting. Im not sure what to fill them with as they are large in diametre but not deep at all. 1-2 mm. I know how to fill holes etc with putty but not sure what works with this. As whats left exposed seems like cardboard. Help if you can, if i’ve made any sense at all!

If it’s just the surface sometimes it’s easier to “dig” a little deeper before starting the repair.

Use drywall compound. DON’T use a floor product!

Plan on at least 2 applications, sanding each application smooth and flat. (Sometimes an amateur can get lucky, and get it right with 1 application, but usually not. The first time I did a repair like that, I had to apply the compound 4 times before I got the results I wanted.)
