What do these specs for an SDS rotary drill mean?

I want a good SDS drill for around the house stuff…but I am confused as to the spec:

“Maximum Capacity…concrete, steel, wood” and “Optimal Concrete Capacity Range”

What do these mean? Is it the max depth it can drill? Thanks for any help….
As far as depth, a lot of the drill specs say :Optimal Concrete Capacity Range 1″ or so – that doesnt see like a deep hole given the length of the bits? why is there a limit? if the bitis 3″ long why cant it go 3″ deep?

Optimal is the “best” so the best concrete capacity range 1″ or so.
Without seeing all or more instructions its hard to comment on this. The chuck of a drill has a capacity for the size of drill bits that you can fit in it.

As for the length of drill bit, they can be 3″ or 23″ long its weather they will fit in the chuck that counts. I can’t see you having a chuck that opens to accept a 1″ diameter drill bit, they generally go up to 5/8s mostly 1/2″.
